Hazards into endgame pressure
Great Tusk compresses rocks and removal, Gholdengo makes opposing removal costly, and Kingambit turns accumulated chip into a Sucker Punch endgame.
Smogon singles · Data guide
OU rewards teams that create progress without giving away tempo. Start with a repeatable way to place or remove hazards, add answers to the format’s fastest threats, then define a late-game route instead of collecting six individually strong Pokémon.

Core ideas
Great Tusk compresses rocks and removal, Gholdengo makes opposing removal costly, and Kingambit turns accumulated chip into a Sucker Punch endgame.
Slowking-Galar brings Kyurem or Ogerpon in safely; the two breakers attack different defensive structures and prevent a single wall from solving the core.
Magic Bounce discourages passive hazard turns while Dragonite and Raging Bolt force the opponent to respect two different setup paths.

FAQ
Showdown accepts smaller teams, but a serious ladder team is normally built with six because every slot is valuable for role and matchup coverage.
Yes. The pinned Gen 9 OU format uses Species Clause but not Item Clause.
No. Usage is a starting signal, not a synergy score. Roles, speed control, defensive overlap, hazard play, and a win condition still have to fit together.
