Bulky offense · Gen 9 OU

Kyurem + Slowking Bulky Offense

A deliberate bulky offense for breaking balance: Slowking-Galar and Corviknight create low-risk entries for Choice Specs Kyurem, while Ogerpon-Wellspring and Kingambit convert the damage into a physical endgame.

Game plan

How the six slots work together

Start by identifying what the opponent uses to absorb Kyurem. Slowking-Galar can place Future Sight and leave with Chilly Reception, giving Kyurem or Ogerpon-Wellspring an entry without taking the incoming hit. Freeze-Dry pressures bulky Water-types, Earth Power punishes Steel-types that expect Ice, and Future Sight makes switching to a dedicated answer harder. Great Tusk supplies Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin; Corviknight should use U-turn to preserve momentum rather than Defog automatically. Once the special wall or Water check is weakened, choose Ogerpon for a Swords Dance break or save Kingambit for the final priority exchange.

When to use this team

  • Best into balance and slower bulky offense that rely on one special wall or one bulky Water to cover several attackers.
  • Choose it when you prefer repeatable pivots and two independent removal options over an all-in hazard-stack opening.

Lead options

  • Slowking-Galar against special attackers or passive pivots; Future Sight plus Chilly Reception starts the pressure cycle.
  • Great Tusk when both sides are likely to contest Stealth Rock immediately.
  • Corviknight into physical contact leads when Rocky Helmet chip and a slow U-turn are more valuable than early hazards.

Win conditions

  • Future Sight plus Choice Specs Kyurem overloads the opponent’s special wall and opens the physical half of the team.
  • Ogerpon-Wellspring uses Swords Dance after its Grass- or Dragon-type answer has lost its item or enough health.
  • Kingambit turns the accumulated chip into a Swords Dance and Sucker Punch endgame.

Watch for

  • Kyurem has no Heavy-Duty Boots, so do not spend both Great Tusk and Corviknight before its final breaking cycle.
  • A correctly predicted Choice Specs lock can hand tempo to a faster Fairy- or Steel-type; reveal coverage deliberately.
  • Protect Slowking-Galar from Knock Off and repeated Ground attacks because it is the team’s most reliable special cushion.

Possible replacements

  • Cinderace can replace Corviknight for faster Court Change and U-turn utility, but the team loses its Ground immunity and long-term physical wall.
  • Zamazenta can replace Ogerpon-Wellspring for more speed and physical resilience, at the cost of Water Absorb and immediate Water-type breaking.
